Ogden is about to mark a significant milestone for its child advocacy efforts with the grand opening of a new facility designed to cater to the needs of young survivors of abuse. The Weber-Morgan Children's Justice Center (CJC) is set to unveil its latest center at 1845 Jackson Avenue on May 22 at 10 a.m., aiming to offer a supportive space for children to navigate the legal complexities typically accompanying allegations of such grave nature.
The CJC's initiative, made possible through a concerted effort involving local authorities, educational institutions, and benefactors, takes a child-centric approach to justice. It breeds a sense of security from the very architecture and aesthetics of the building to the protocols outlined in handling sensitive interviews. According to Weber County, Scott Brenkman, the executive director of the Weber-Morgan Children’s Justice Center, has emphasized that "The building—from the location, layout, colors and artwork—is specifically designed to reduce trauma the moment a child steps through the door," spotlighting the importance of immediate psychological relief.
The newly constructed building, proudly owned by Weber County, addresses the growing need for specialized spaces devoted to tackling crimes against young individuals. This establishment promises enhanced privacy and confidentiality during investigative processes and boasts facilities conducive to collaboration and training among community stakeholders.
