Commuters in Cooper City are advised to consider alternate routes on Wednesday night due to potential disruptions. According to an announcement from the Broward County Public Works Department, a key section of Stirling Road is slated to shut down for some overnight construction work. Specifically, the bridge deck area just west of South Flamingo Road is getting some TLC in the form of structural reinforcement, waterproofing, and resurfacing.

A planned road closure will begin at 8 p.m. on June 4 and is expected to last until 6 a.m. on June 5. Both eastbound and westbound lanes at the intersection of Stirling Road and South Flamingo Road will be closed to regular traffic during this time. Emergency vehicles will still be permitted to pass through. While Stirling Road is closed overnight, motorists will be redirected to Griffin Road. Drivers traveling in the area are encouraged to plan alternate routes or prepare for possible detours, as detailed by the Broward County news release.

In the meantime, the Public Works team has been hard at work beneath the bridge structure in the lead-up to the closure. According to the news released by the Broward County website, the bulk of the project's heavy lifting has happened out of sight.

Sidewalks and driveways around the construction zone will remain open for those living or working in the area. And while the traffic on Stirling Road may hit a temporary standstill, the northbound and southbound lanes of South Flamingo Road are staying put. "Broward County appreciates your patience as we complete this necessary work," reminds the county's statement.
