Port St. Lucie became the scene of a major law enforcement operation as the local sheriff's office SWAT team paired with detectives executed a narcotics-related search warrant, leading to the arrest of a 70-year-old man with a history of felony convictions.
Detained at the scene was Izaiah West, who according to the CBS12 report, was a five-time convicted felon and was wanted on an active warrant connected to prior charges of cocaine distribution. The raid, which took place earlier yesterday at a residence on Holden Terrace, uncovered a veritable arsenal, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, marijuana, and various drug paraphernalia. West now faces an array of charges that could significantly extend his rap sheet.
Focusing on the specifics, the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office (SLCSO) reported the seizure included a Ruger 9mm handgun, a Winchester .22 caliber rifle, a Remington 870 shotgun and additional armaments, as well as a sizable collection of ammunition. Illegal substances found on the property were crack cocaine, powder cocaine, the synthetic drug flakka, and marijuana, equipment consistent with a drug distribution operation were also seized, as detailed in a WPBF news article.
The SLCSO made its stance clear on the matter, with Sheriff Richard Del Toro stating, "This operation is yet another example of our commitment to keeping St. Lucie County safe," he continued, "If you’re dealing poison in our neighborhoods or arming yourself illegally, we will find you, and we will hold you accountable. Our residents deserve to feel safe, and we will continue doing whatever it takes to protect them," as per WPBF.
