Looking ahead, the NWS points to brighter days with Wednesday's forecast already promising mostly sunny skies and a high around 68 degrees. While calm winds await us in the morning, they'll pick up gently from the north by the afternoon. Later that night, the possibility of showers sneaks back at a minimal 20 percent chance after 11 p.m., as temperatures dip to 51 degrees under a mostly cloudy sky.
Thursday's outlook continues the pattern of uncertainty with another 20 percent chance for showers and partly sunny conditions leading to a high near 68, calm winds will set the scene again before transitioning to a mild westerly breeze in the afternoon. As the week rolls forward, temperatures will gradually rise with the weekend setting up Portland for a mostly sunny Saturday, and a high soaring close to 73 degrees.
And for those already making Memorial Day plans, it may be wise to consider indoor alternatives. The city is predicted to face a chance of showers amid partly sunny weather, but temperatures will remain warm with a high projected near 75 degrees. So while the festivities could see some interruptions by nature, the weather seems to have settled into a temperate pattern for Portland's penultimate week of May.
