The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) has recently updated its methods for distributing news releases, moving away from the FlashAlert system. As of now, the official PPB news releases will no longer be found on FlashAlert but will be disseminated through a newly adopted platform. To streamline communication and reach the public more directly, the bureau has updated its digital outreach strategy.

According to the information available on the Portland Police Bureau's website, interested individuals are now encouraged to have these releases sent directly to their email by signing up through a provided link. Adding to their digital presence, PPB has also established channels across various social media platforms, which, intending to engage a broad audience, include Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky, LinkedIn, YouTube, and their own site.

For those who follow the bureau's activities online, a range of content filtering options has also been introduced. Users can search for specific topics using keywords, and they can filter results by type - whether they're looking for blog posts, news articles, newsletters, or public notices. "On our website, users can search for content via keyword, and can filter by type (blog post, news article, newsletter, or public notice)," states the PPB's new communication announcement.

Additionally, the Portland Police are inviting the public to subscribe to the Talking Beat Podcast as part of the PPB's revamped communications outreach. This serves as yet another platform to glean insights into police work and community relations. Subscribers have been given control over their subscription preferences, with the option to opt-out simply by clicking the unsubscribe link included in any of the PPB’s emails. The Strategic Communications Unit, as detailed on their website, seems to be playing an integral role in orchestrating these updated communication efforts.
