The identity of the man who was fatally shot in downtown Portland last Sunday has been confirmed as Joshua Manahan, a 44-year-old resident of Portland, the Portland Police Bureau reported. His immediate kin have been notified and are currently asking for privacy, which comes amidst a wave of gun violence troubling the city.
According to the Portland Police Bureau's statement, the shooting took place near South Harbor Drive and South Harrison Street. Officers responded to the scene around 10:20 p.m. and found Manahan with serious gunshot wounds. He was promptly taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries the following day, making the incident a matter of homicide as declared by the Medical Examiner's office.
The investigation into Manahan's death is active, being led by the Homicide Unit of the Portland Police Bureau. Detectives are currently gathering evidence and are in search of any suspects involved in the case.
