In what has been reported as a grim sequence of events in Gary, Indiana, a pregnant woman and a man were found dead in what authorities are investigating as a murder-suicide. According to ABC7 Chicago, the Lake County Coroner was summoned to the 400 block of Clark Street late Friday night, where they discovered the bodies. Chasity Shorter, 21, four months pregnant, had been fatally shot, and her identity was confirmed by the coroner.
Family members identified the male victim, found at the scene with gunshot wounds, as Brice Taylor, also 21, of Hammond, Indiana, as reported by FOX 32 Chicago. The nature of the relationship between Shorter and Taylor remains unclear, enveloped by the night's silence that the shots had violently pierced.
The coroner subsequently ruled Shorter's death a homicide and Taylor's death a suicide following forensic autopsies, as per FOX 32 Chicago. Additional information about the case has not been disclosed.
