A grim discovery was made at a Grantville apartment last week, where a man died following a reported fight with his sister. According to the San Diego Police Department, the 62-year-old Pacific Islander male, now identified as Michael Loo, was found deceased after officers were called to 6304 Rancho Mission Road around 8:56 PM last Thursday.
During the incident, a second call informed dispatchers that a female was seen assaulting her brother with a stick, leading to the swift action by police who arrived at 9:32 PM. They found Loo unconscious, and despite efforts to save him, he did not survive. Signs of a violent struggle were apparent, but there were no obvious life-threatening injuries observed on the victim. The sister of the deceased, who police say fled the scene, is a 59-year-old woman of Pacific Islander descent, and while she has since been located and interviewed by police, the situation remains tense as investigators continue piecing together the circumstances of Loo’s death.
The report by Hoodline details further that the San Diego Police Department and the Medical Examiner’s Office are working jointly to ascertain the exact cause of death. In this unfolding mystery, the death has stirred troubling questions about what transpired in the moments leading up to the fatal encounter.
The police have reached out to the community, asking for anyone with information to come forward. They offer the Homicide Unit's number (619) 531-2293 and Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
