
In a tragic turn of events on Sauvie Island, a juvenile female lost her life in a single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency call at around 12:40 a.m. about a person not breathing following the crash in the 14900 block of NW Gillihan Road. When deputies arrived at the scene, located on private property, they found the young girl deceased, the consequence of a rollover involving a utility task vehicle (UTV).
According to a statement on the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office website, 18-year-old Ayden Heard, the driver of the UTV, was arrested after an initial investigation by the East County Vehicular Crimes Team. The team, which includes experts from various local law enforcement agencies, conducts thorough investigations into serious vehicular incidents and crimes. Heard was taken to a local hospital for evaluation before being booked into Multnomah County Detention Center on charges including Manslaughter in the Second Degree.
