
Homicide detectives have taken up the mantle in a death investigation following a shooting incident in Dutchtown. The episode unfolded in the 4100 block of S. Grand Blvd. yesterday, at approximately 2:30 p.m., police were summoned to a residence over reports of gunfire, as reported on the St. Louis Police Department's website.
Upon arrival, authorities found 48-year-old Lachonda Valentine suffering from a gunshot wound within the home. Despite emergency medical services promptly arriving to administer aid, Valentine was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into Valentine's death is poised to continue pending further analysis on the cause of death by The Medical Examiner’s Office. Preliminary inquiry trends towards a homicide, as per the statement given by the officers first on the scene.
