
Wednesday night saw the conclusion of a tense episode in Nashville as Dontez Lewis, 24, was arrested for his alleged involvement in shootings during a robbery at a KFC restaurant. The arrest came about following efforts by the Violent Crimes/Robbery Unit detectives.
According to the official Nashville Metro Police report, Lewis was apprehended after exiting a home on Delta Avenue, where he surrendered to the detectives who were awaiting his emergence. He now faces charges related to the armed robbery of the KFC on Clarksville Pike on the afternoon last Tuesday and a subsequent holdup at the Mapco convenience store located at 712 Main Street later that day.
Investigators allege that, during the KFC robbery, Lewis discharged at least two rounds inside the establishment as employees took refuge in an office. The severity of the situation was underscored by the response of the judicial commissioner, who has since set a bond at $80,000 on the two counts of aggravated robbery facing Lewis.
