An 18-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound in Cedar Hill Park, Nashville, as confirmed by the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD). The shooting took place shortly before 6 p.m. on a recent Wednesday evening and involved a suspect known to the victim, who was later identified as Emmanuel Orr. After inflicting a leg injury on the woman, Orr allegedly engaged in a confrontation with local law enforcement, according to WKRN
Later that evening, MNPD Officer Jeff Lubey, while on duty, spotted a person whose features corresponded with those provided by the shooting victim. Issuing commands via the PA system, the officer experienced gunfire from Orr, who struck Lubey's vehicle without causing any officer casualties, as reported by FOX 17. Subsequently, Orr discarded his weapon and fled to the nearby Mallard's Restaurant, seeking refuge in the restroom.
The MNPD took Orr into custody following a brief pursuit into the eatery, where he eventually surrendered, hands raised, without further aggressive acts. No shots were fired by police officers during the incident. Per MNPD's social media, the woman who sustained the shooting injury is expected to survive, adding a hopeful note to the otherwise dire situation.
The 18-year-old female acquaintance shot by Orr in the park has a leg wound and is expected to be discharged from the hospital tonight.

"We're very thankful he didn't fire into the windshield; he hit the radiator," MNPD Public Affairs Director Don Aaron conveyed the relieved sentiment, underscoring the gravity of the situation while speaking with NewsChannel 5. Orr now faces charges including felony weapon possession, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, attempted criminal homicide, and evading arrest.
With the suspect held on a $380,000 bond, the community breathes a collective sigh of relief, acknowledging the quick action and restraint shown by Officer Jeff Lubey and the MNPD, while commending the resilience of the injured young woman caught in a moment of unanticipated violence.
