In a recent incident that has caught the attention of local authorities, a man was found asleep at the wheel, obstructing traffic on Timber Forest Drive and Will Clayton Parkway. The Harris County Constable Precinct 4 reported that on May 22, deputies conducted a welfare check leading to a dramatic turn of events involving an allegedly intoxicated driver and resultant arrest.
Responding to the situation, deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office utilized traffic spikes to prevent the driver, later identified as Donyale Britten, from potentially fleeing the scene. Upon deploying the spikes, Britten, inadvertently ran over them when re-awakening. Deputies noted multiple indicators suggesting the driver's intoxication, an observation followed up with a series of Field Sobriety Tests. According to the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 official Facebook post, "Donyale Britten was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Driving While Intoxicated."
Britten was arrested not only for being impaired but also because deputies saw a handgun in plain view in his car. As a convicted felon, he's not allowed to have a gun, which made things more serious. Deputies also found a small amount of marijuana and an empty tequila bottle, supporting their suspicion that he was intoxicated, as per the Harris County Constable Precinct 4.
After Britten’s arrest, the 487th District Court set his bond at $20,000, showing how serious the charges are. For updates on this case and local safety news, people can follow the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 “C4 NOW” app or check their Facebook page.
