Tragedy was narrowly averted at Ocean Beach when two teenage brothers, overcome by the treacherous currents, were rescued by the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) yesterday. Their crews stabilized and carried both victims up a 300-foot stretch to waiting ambulances for emergency transport, as per the San Francisco Fire Department.

According to details provided by KTVU, the boys, who were visiting from out of town with their family, faced a near-fatal encounter with the ocean's deceptive calm. The first boy was inadvertently dragged away from shore, compelling his brother, who then swam out in an intense effort to save him, yet, grasping for shore, it was reported that the second boy drank a lot of water and succumbed to cramps.

Medics, who had arrived at the scene, attended to both brothers, who were subsequently rushed to San Francisco General Hospital. The boy who was caught in the current initially is currently in critical condition, and his brother is in moderate condition.
