Two individuals have been arrested and multiple firearms, including stolen weapons, were recovered by the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force (ICGTF) during a narcotics and firearms trafficking investigation. The IMPD News social media post reported the development today.
Authorities executed a search warrant last Thursday, on the 2100 block of E 34th Street following an investigation into illegal activities suspected at the residence. The warrant, a culmination of a multi-week probe, resulted in the arrest of Anthony Taylor Jr., 24, and Gregory Henderson III, 24. Taylor, currently on federal probation for unlawful possession of a handgun by a felon, and is also classified as a serious violent felon (SVF) in Indiana, was observed with an AR-style pistol and another firearm prior to the issuance of the search warrant.
With the assistance of IMPD SWAT, both Taylor and Henderson were taken into custody without incident. The subsequent search unearthed 3 handguns, one of which was reported stolen, and a stolen rifle. Henderson was apprehended on an open felony warrant for resisting law enforcement, while Taylor faces charges for a serious violent felon in possession of a firearm and pending federal charges. "Anthony Taylor Jr. was arrested for serious violent felon in possession of a firearm and is being held for pending federal charges for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon," per the IMPD update.
Final charging decisions in the case rest with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office. It is important to note that both Taylor and Henderson are to be presumed innocent unless, and until proven guilty in a court of law. The task force responsible for these arrests, the ICGTF, is a collaborative effort of law enforcement officers and analysts from various central Indiana agencies in counties such as Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Marion, Morgan, Johnson, and Shelby.
