The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is currently engaging with the public to solicit comments on two key environmental studies targeting the needs and futures of Summit and Wasatch counties. Residents are invited to share their insights during an open house set for June 3, according to details provided by UDOT and shared on their website.

At the open house, which will unfold from 5-7 p.m. within the welcoming space of the Utah Film Studios' second-floor annex in Park City, the floor will be open for discussion. As UDOT Project Manager Eduardo Miranda put it, "We want to be good stewards and attentive listeners, so that we can understand this area’s unique trail and connectivity needs," as obtained by UDOT. Ensuring the safety and diversifying the transport modalities for locals and visitors alike emerges as a theme of considerable importance in the Phoston Spur and Rail Trail Study, particularly in touching State Route 248, a hub for trail enthusiasts.

Moving along, the US-40 Corridor Study will be another focal point during the meeting. Tasked with the goal of creating long-term strategies for safer and more efficient travel through the US-40 corridor, the study spans a significant stretch from Interstate 80 to the southern tip of the Jordanelle Reservoir. Geoff Dupaix, UDOT's Regional Planning manager, highlighted the importance of this route: "US-40 is the key route in connecting the Wasatch Back to both eastern Utah and the Wasatch Front," as noted by UDOT. Engagement at this upcoming event is crucial as it will offer participants a chance to shape future transportation plans.
