In an accolade that highlights a commitment to community and commercial revitalization, Jennifer Herbert, Downtown Development Director, has been awarded the Main Street America Revitalization Professional credential. According to Wake Forest's official news release, this distinction—the highest level of recognition by the Main Street America Institute—was bestowed on Herbert during the recent Main Street Now Conference in Philadelphia.
Herbert's achievement is significant, as she represents one of only 11 planners nationwide to receive this credential on April 9. The program entails a demanding combination of online courses, workshops, and, a rigorous final exam that testifies to extensive professional development and a strong grasp of downtown revitalization strategies. "Main Street America is excited to recognize the recipients of the 2025 Main Street America Revitalization Professional credential,” Tasha Sams, Director of Education for Main Street America stated. Herbert's dedication has roots going back to her initial tenure with Wake Forest, which began in 2016.
Becoming the Downtown Development Manager in 2021, and later the Director in 2023, Herbert has consistently demonstrated a focus on enriching the Wake Forest community. In a testament to her efforts, Herbert articulated the weight of this new credential. “Earning the MSARP credential not only allowed me to expand my knowledge, but it also gave me an opportunity to demonstrate my passion and commitment to the future of Wake Forest Downtown,” she told the Wake Forest news platform.
