
A 26-year-old woman was critically injured in a shooting that occurred in an apartment complex hallway in South Shore, Chicago. The incident took place on the afternoon of Sunday, with Chicago police confirming that it happened around 2 p.m. in the 7300 block of South Chappel Avenue. The victim, found with a gunshot wound to her back, was rapidly transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she remains in a critical condition, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Investigators have yet to quickly determine if this was a targeted attack or a random act of violence, and they are currently working to closely identify any possible suspects in the case. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the shooting. The police are seeking assistance from the public and asking anyone with information to step forward, as reported by FOX 32 Chicago.
