A Zion man faces armed robbery charges following an incident at a Beach Park fast food restaurant. Shane L. Lones, 41, was apprehended last Friday after the alleged crime occurred the previous evening around 7:35 p.m., as reported by FOX 32 Chicago.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, no one was injured when a man entered the restaurant located at the 38900 block of North Lewis Road. Carrying a knife, he demanded and retrieved cash from a register and swiftly left the scene. Identified wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes, and a surgical mask, deputies said the suspect fled on foot before entering a vehicle, as detailed by CBS News Chicago.

In a statement obtained by FOX 32 Chicago, officials said this lead helped detectives locate Lones near his home. Arresting him the following day, they obtained search warrants and, in his vehicle and apartment, they found the clothing worn during the alleged robbery.

The Lake County State's Attorney's Office has since moved to keep Lones detained as he awaits his trial. A judge ordered Lones to be held pending a detention hearing, scheduled for Tuesday, as per CBS News Chicago.
