
Tragedy struck a Fort Wayne neighborhood when an 11-year-old boy was stabbed in a disturbing daylight incident on the corner of South Anthony Blvd. and Colonial Ave. The attack, happening at around 1:30 p.m. yesterday, drew a swift response from the Fort Wayne Police Department. The young victim was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, carrying injuries that were deemed non-life-threatening, according to a statement obtained by the Fort Wayne Police Department.
Authorities managed to promptly locate and apprehend the suspected assailant, identified as 27-year-old Trayveon Sewel. Sewel was arrested in the 4500 block of Atwood Dr., taken into custody without further incident, and is currently facing a charge of Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, a Level 6 Felony. As detectives continue actively to gather video footage and conduct witness interviews, the exact nature of Sewel's connection to the preteen remains a mystery.
While the suspect donned a "Scream" mask during the attack, creating a scene that might seem pulled from movie screens, the authorities are dealing closely with the reality of community safety.
