
Four people were injured in a multi-car collision last night near the Indiana State Fairgrounds, involving two Noblesville police officers. The incident occurred at around 9:45 p.m. on East Fall Creek Parkway North Drive, as confirmed by an WTHR report. An SUV, driving with a red light, struck two cars; one of which barreled into the Noblesville police vehicles that were exiting the fairgrounds post a high school graduation ceremony.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, with minor injuries, two officers were initially hospitalized, only to just be checked out. Working as school resource officers at the graduation event, they were later released. As stated by Noblesville Mayor Chris Jensen, and reported by FOX59, "Our officers willingly put themselves in harm's way every day to serve and protect our community. Every mayor fears the phone call I received last night. However, I am relieved to hear that both officers are doing well and are on the path to recovery."
The driver of the SUV was extricated by the fire department and is currently in critical condition at a local hospital. Details on this were also given by WTHR. Further, one other involved civilian was transported to a hospital in stable condition, while another was treated and released at the scene, as per the IMPD.
Affected by the tragedy and expressing concern, Noblesville Schools officials, quoted by FOX59, said, "Our school resource officers are beloved members of our school community and we were so upset to hear about this incident following our special night of celebration. We appreciate the sacrifice these officers make for our students and staff every day, and are grateful and relieved to learn that they're recovering well."
