Nearly four years after the murder of Katherine Janness and her dog Bowie in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park, the case remains unsolved. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the Atlanta Police Department has renewed its call for public tips related to the incident, which occurred during the early morning hours of July 28, 2021.
Janness was found near the park entrance at 10th Street and Charles Allen Drive by her partner, Emma Clark, using a phone tracker. WSB-TV reported that Janness had been stabbed more than 50 times, with injuries to her face, neck, and torso.
The letters “F,” “A,” and “T” were also found carved into her body, as noted by FOX 5 Atlanta.
At the time of the murder, surveillance cameras in the park were not working, limiting available evidence. Investigators are now focusing on DNA and genetic evidence to move the case forward, as noted in a recent police update.
A bench in the park’s dog area now serves as a memorial to Janness and Bowie. Police said they remain committed to solving the case and bringing those responsible to justice.
Crime Stoppers Atlanta is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment. Anyone with tips can contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
