An Aurora chiropractor, facing previous charges of sexual assault, has now been indicted on additional counts after more victims have emerged with allegations. Murtaza Hameed, 46, of Naperville, now faces 13 new charges, including ones related to the sexual abuse of a 17-year-old boy in January and a 16-year-old in 2016, as well as three counts arising from new allegations brought forth by additional victims, NBC Chicago reports.
These latest cases, which involve victims ranging from pre-adolescents to adults, span a period from July 2016 through January 2025. The charges include one count of criminal sexual assault, five counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, one count of attempted criminal sexual assault, and one count of misdemeanor battery, according to ABC 7 Chicago. Following the latest court hearing, despite the severity of the charges, the judge allowed for Hameed to be released on electronic monitoring with home confinement, with the stipulation that he must not communicate with any minors, except for his children.
After his initial arrest in May, prompted by the claims of the 17-year-old, the case has been expanding, drawing commendation from the DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin for the victims' bravery. "The courage displayed by the victims in this case to come forward is inspiring," State’s Attorney Robert Berlin expressed in a statement obtained by NBC Chicago. Officials are urging anyone with further information or who may have been a victim themselves to reach out to investigators.
