A tragic event unfolded last Tuesday evening when a vehicle collision claimed the life of Herbert J. Wilson from Charlotte, N.C. The Belmont Police Department reported that the incident occurred around 7:30 pm on Wilkinson Blvd near Browntown Road.
In the wake of the accident, thorough investigations were carried out by the Belmont Police Department's Traffic Division and Criminal Investigations Division, with support from the Gastonia Police Department. A suspect was charged following these inquiries, the police department disclosed this information in a statement released on their social media channels.
Talyiah Ade Staton of Belmont is now facing multiple charges in connection with the collision, including "Death by Motor Vehicle - Misdemeanor," "Driving While License Revoked," "No Insurance," "Careless & Reckless," "Fail to Yield Right of Way," and "Driving After Consuming Alcohol - Less Than 21 Years of Age." The charges were filed after presenting the case to the Gaston County District Attorney's Office.
Staton was placed under arrest and, received a $75,000 secured bond.
