Residents in parts of Hollywood are now facing a precautionary boil water advisory, following a recent disruption in the local water supply. The advisory was issued as a precaution after a water main repair, highlighting potential concerns for water safety and pointing to deeper issues of infrastructure that persistently plague modern cities.
According to the City of Hollywood's official announcement, the advisory specifically affects those within the vicinity of Oak Street between Surf Road and Ocean Drive. The advisory instructs residents and visitors in the area not to directly drink tap water without boiling it first. For at least one minute, water must be brought to a rolling boil before it is considered safe to use for drinking, making ice, or even brushing teeth.
The notice further advises that only boiled or bottled water be used for all manners of consumption and hygiene until further notice, including food preparation and dish washing.
