Users of the Brentwood city website may have a smoother experience navigating online services today, as the city has launched a redesigned version of its official portal. According to official statements from the City of Brentwood, the revamp was conducted by the Brentwood Information Technology Department in collaboration with the Community Relations Department, with the intent to streamline the online experience for both residents and city employees.
As noted by Brentwood's Technology Director, Sarah VanWormer, "The city’s website was outdated, creating growing challenges for our staff and community," as reported by the city's official website. This update aims to make it easier to quickly find important information without having to know the exact name of a city department. The project's goal was to reduce the number of clicks needed for users to get to the content they are searching for, thereby aiming to provide a more intuitive and user-friendly interface.
With the redesigned website, city departments, including the Brentwood Police Department and the John P. Holt Brentwood Library, are now equipped with their own distinct websites. "The refreshed subsites allows for their specific functionality while retaining the look and feel of the larger city site," VanWormer stated, as per the City of Brentwood. The library and police have distinct operational requirements, and the updated designs are configured to address those varied needs.
Granicus, which specializes in delivering web services for over 6,000 local governments, partnered with the city to roll out this web refresh project. The company's involvement aims to ensure an industry standard experience, reflecting best practices especially for essential city services such as police departments and libraries.
