Kyle Simpkin, a 34-year-old Brentwood local, was connected to multiple thefts, including one at a preschool, following his earlier arrest for vehicle burglary. The City of Brentwood Police Department detailed the incidents and subsequent charges on their social media, laying out the events leading up to Simpkin's arrest.
The case unfolded with an initial burglary call from the Walnut Acres Mobile Home Park late Sunday night. The Brentwood Police Department responded after a reported vehicle break-in. According to Hoodline, the swift action of the authorities led to the recovery of stolen goods and Simpkin's arrest. Not only one, but the thief had targeted three vehicles.
The subsequent twist came when officers were informed of a burglary at the Sunshine House preschool following Simpkin's release. Serendipitously, Simpkin himself flagged down an officer not long after, which led to the discovery of items in his possession that were traced back to the preschool. The Brentwood Police charged Simpkin with burglary, theft with prior convictions, possession of stolen property, and possession of burglary tools.
