On June 4, a call regarding an occupied stolen vehicle set off a dramatic course of events in Brentwood, leading to a police chase and a subsequent manhunt. The City of Brentwood Police Department revealed in a social media post that after officers tried to pull over the car, the driver and passenger fled into a nearby neighborhood, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
The suspects, both juveniles, reportedly led officers on a pursuit that ended when their vehicle crashed on Highland Way at the corner of Shadowcliff Way. After the crash, the individuals took their chances on foot, escaping into a residential area. A 16-year-old male from Antioch was located hiding in a private yard on Aurora Court, and a 17-year-old male from Brentwood was subsequently found. "Both juvenile suspects were located and safely taken into custody," according to the City of Brentwood Police Department.
Charges against one of the suspects have been filed by the Contra Costa County Juvenile District Attorney, including assault with a deadly weapon, evading police, and vehicle theft. This development emphasizes the severity of the incident and the criminal responsibilities the captured suspect now faces.
In the event documentation, Hoodline described the initial sequence as a chase that quickly escalated after an attempted traffic stop. Drones were deployed as part of the search operations, facilitating the discovery and arrest of the two teenagers involved in this high-stakes theft and pursuit.
