
In a statement released through social media, Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan detailed the sequence of events that unfolded last Friday leading to an arrest and the seizure of heroin, fentanyl, and cash during a quality-of-life property check. Police Officers, simply doing a routine check at the back of a Sargeant Street property, chanced upon Steven Lefebvre, who was in the midst of counting money, at which point their attention was drawn to nearby plastic vials containing crack-cocaine.
As a result of the observations made during their check, Officers Nigel Astwood and Detective William Lebrun arrested Lefebvre on charges of trespassing—the 41-year-old Chicopee native was reportedly found with approximately 50 bags of heroin/fentanyl in his backpack; the officers also confiscated over $300 in cash suspecting its relation to illicit activities, according to the Holyoke Police Department's Facebook page.
Lefebvre, who has faced similar accusations in the past is confronted with multiple charges; these include possession with intent to distribute a Class A drug and possession of a Class A drug – subsequent offense which casts a harsher light on this current wrongdoings considering his history, the Facebook post further clarifies the specific legal repercussions he is now facing.
The incident spotlights ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to address drug-related activities and their commitment to enhancing the quality of life in Holyoke neighborhoods.
