On Monday morning, deputies from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office were summoned to a U.S. Bank branch in Clackamas, where they discovered a scene straight out of a heist film — minus the Hollywood glamour. According to the Sheriff's Office, at about 4:49 a.m., an ATM drive-through at 11521 SE Sunnyside Rd. had been forcefully breached using a stolen excavator. The massive machine, which deputies found idling by the wreckage, was commandeered from a nearby construction site to perform the brazen theft.

An investigation is currently underway as deputies along with detectives and CSI technicians scrutinize the scene. The perpetrator or perpetrators have inflicted considerable damage to the bank's building and the excavator itself. Furthermore, a nearby SUV fell victim to the crime, with its window shattered. The cash plundered from the ATM has prompted authorities to solicit information from the public to assist in tracking down those responsible for the destruction and theft.

Clackamas County officials are urging anyone with knowledge about this incident to come forward. In an appeal for community assistance, "Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line — by phone at 503-723-4949 or by using the online form at www.clackamas.us/sheriff/tip . Please reference CCSO Case #25-013120," as stated in the Sheriff's Office press release.
