
A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle on the Eisenhower Expressway, authorities confirmed. The incident, occurring late Sunday night, has raised questions and prompted a thorough investigation by the Illinois State Police.
According to ABC7 Chicago, the collision happened around 11:15 p.m. in the outbound lanes near Independence Boulevard. The injured pedestrian was transported to Stroger Hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
The outbound lanes of I-290 were closed following the accident but reopened in the early hours of the morning, state police reported. As per CBS News Chicago, all lanes were again accessible by approximately 4:35 a.m.
