The City of Deerfield Beach is encouraging families to get their kids physically active with a new program tailored for the little ones. The Department of Parks and Recreation has rolled out the Super Tots 6-week introductory sports program, designed specifically for children aged 5 and under. This initiative includes various sports activities such as Hoopster Tots and Soccer Tots, giving kids a playful introduction to foundational athletic skills, as detailed by the City of Deerfield Beach.

On Mondays at the Johnny L. Tigner Community Center, located at 445 SW 2nd Street, Hoopster Tots will take center stage. The program, happening from 6:00 PM to 6:45 PM, is open to kids ranging from 18 months to 5 years old. The focus is on developing basketball fundamentals like dribbling, shooting, and passing, all while promoting teamwork and providing adjustable hoops to keep the challenges age-appropriate.

Meanwhile, Soccer Tots aims to bring out the budding athletes on Tuesdays at Constitution Park (2841 W. Hillsboro Blvd.). Taking place during the same evening hours as Hoopster Tots, young participants at Soccer Tots will engage in activities that look to build their soccer skills and introduce them to the concept of friendly competition, all within an active and game-based setup.

Registration is open, with a fee set at $152 for non-residents and $126 for Deerfield Beach residents. Interested parties must sign up by Monday, July 21st. According to an announcement on the City's website, all Super Tots participants are asked to wear comfortable athletic clothing and shoes, and parents with children 3.5 years and younger are required to participate with their kids.
