Delray Beach marked a major sports milestone as Coco Gauff won her first French Open title and second Grand Slam. According to CBS12, Gauff, ranked No. 2 in the world, defeated top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka in a three-set match: 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-4.
Following her win, Gauff climbed into the stands to celebrate with her family. Her grandmother and aunt watched from home in Delray Beach, where local residents gathered at the Warren restaurant to view the match, CBS12 reported. The final marked the first French Open championship match between the top two seeds since 2013.
Gauff lifted the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen during the trophy ceremony on Court Philippe-Chatrier. A photograph of her taking a selfie with the trophy was featured by the Palm Beach Post.
