In an operation targeting sexual predators, DuPage County officials have brought charges against three men accused of seeking to engage in sexual activity with a minor, as reported by the DuPage County State’s Attorney's Office. The sting, led by the Downers Grove Police Department in collaboration with other local law enforcement agencies, resulted in the arrest of Devonte Robinson, Nicholas Flesher, and Cameron Konter, all varying in age from 24 to 55, charged for their attempts to meet what they believed was a 16-year-old girl.

According to the press release, the operation unfolded after the men responded to an online advertisement, initially engaging with a supposed 18-year-old, the decoy later disclosed being 16, despite this the men continued their pursuit resulting in their subsequent arrests upon arrival at a Downers Grove hotel where the intended meeting was to take place. Each defendant is facing serious charges, including one count of Traveling to Meet a Minor, one count of Grooming, and one count of Solicitation to Meet a Child. They were released pre-trial on strict conditions, including electronic monitoring and mandates against contact with minors.

State’s Attorney Robert Berlin emphasized the severity of the allegations, declaring, “The predatory actions allegedly committed by each of these men, as they sought to have inappropriate sexual relations with an underage girl, will not be tolerated in DuPage County,” Chief of Police Michael DeVries echoed the sentiment and recognized the cooperative effort to identify and penalize such crimes, thanking various law enforcement agencies, including the United States Secret Service, for assisting with the operation, DuPage County stated.

As the community confronts a sobering reminder of the threats facing its youth, the Downers Grove Police, alongside agencies from Westmont, Carol Stream, and the DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group (DuMeg), are being commended for their proactive investigation. The joint operation highlights law enforcement’s commitment to combating sexual exploitation and human trafficking. With court dates set for Robinson on June 11, Flesher on June 12, and Konter on June 30, the public is reminded that these charges are allegations, and each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
