A yacht became engulfed in flames while docked in Fort Lauderdale this morning, causing significant damage to the 47-foot vessel. Local 10 reports that the blaze began just before 7 a.m. along the 1100 block of Cordova Road. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue crews were dispatched to the scene following multiple 911 calls and arrived within six minutes to a fire that had fully engulfed the yacht.

The fire department quickly commenced a defensive attack, using water and foam to combat the flames.“We began an aggressive attack using water and foam to extinguish the fire and after about 20-25 minutes we able to knock down the fire. There’s nobody that we’re aware of that was on board at the time of the fire, so no injuries were reported,” a fire official said, as obtained by WSVN

Video footage captured at the scene showed extensive damage to the boat's interior and partial collapse of the vessel's roof due to the intensity of the inferno. Nevertheless, the boat was subsequently towed away as investigative efforts commenced to ascertain the origins of the fire.

According to fire officials, this fire marks the seventh boat fire investigated this year. As of now, the cause of the blaze remains unknown, and a fire investigator is actively working the scene to determine what sparked the fire. First responders confirmed that the yacht was fully extinguished in about 20 minutes after their arrival, with no further threat to surrounding property.
