Folks in Fountain Hills have something to look forward to when it comes to outdoor recreation. The Linear Park, nestled along the Avenue of the Fountains, is undergoing a series of enhancements that include a new shade structure, root barriers, and improved power access for events.
According to the Fountain Hills government website, construction is currently underway on the eastern side of the park, where a 100-foot by 60-foot shade structure promises to quickly become a welcoming respite for those seeking to escape the Arizona heat. Designed not only to functionally serve visitors but also to please the eye, this structure is set to be a new focal point in the park's landscape. Community Services Director Kevin Snipes was quoted saying, “Residents and visitors will soon notice a significant enhancement to the park. The additional shade with its artistic design will make events and everyday visits more enjoyable, especially during warmer months,” as mentioned on the Town of Fountain Hills website.
The shade structure is on track to be completed by the end of July, but that's not the only improvement park-goers can anticipate. New power receptacles have been installed on the park's eastern half, which will notably make to vastly improve the power infrastructure during special events. The project aims to roll out similar upgrades on the western half by early fall.
Maintenance and prevention are also on the agenda. To combat potential damage caused by tree roots to the sidewalks and surrounding infrastructure, root barriers have been strategically placed. These barriers will likely help to prolong the life of the park's amenities and ensure a safer environment for everyone. All of these interventions are part of a concerted effort to make the Linear Park a more comfortable and functional space for the community, according to the Town of Fountain Hills official announcement.
