Homestead residents looking for a smoother way to navigate the DMV experience are in luck as the City of Homestead rolls out the welcome mat for the Florida Licensing on Wheels (FLOW) mobile office once again. The FLOW initiative is bringing its services to the William F. Dickinson Community Center on June 24, between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, providing a range of DMV services aimed at cutting down on the typical wait times and long lines.
According to the city's announcement, services available for residents at the FLOW event will vary, with driver's license renewals, ID cards, and address or name changes on offer for set fees, however, driving tests will not be available at this event. Fees for first-time licenses, converting out-of-state licenses, and Class E license renewals are pegged at $48.00, while replacements for lost or stolen licenses and ID cards are more affordable at $25.00 – and if you're looking for a 'No Fee Poverty Letter' or to register your emergency contact information, those services come at no cost.
Residents planning to use the service are reminded to bring essential documentation, including a valid U.S. passport or birth certificate for identification, along with a Social Security card to verify their Social Security number. Additionally, two separate proofs of address—such as utility bills or voter registration cards—are required. Accepted payment methods include cash, credit cards, and checks. To help ensure a smooth process, officials emphasize the importance of scheduling an appointment in advance, which can be done through the city’s official website.
Residents can renew vehicle registrations and pick up or renew disabled parking placards—permanent placards are free, and temporary ones cost $15.
