The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) has been diligently active in addressing homicide cases, with three suspects arrested in only 72 hours. Attention was particularly drawn to the south side of the city, where one Corey Davis was apprehended in connection with a robbery that escalated into a fatal car crash, claiming the life of 62-year-old Charles Collins.
According to FOX59, Davis, identified as the alleged driver during the attempted robbery, was located and arrested by IMPD's Violent Crimes Unit. The unfortunate sequence of events began to quickly unfold on the morning of May 15, after officers dispatched to the 8000 block of S. Madison Avenue found Collins suffering from injuries indicative of being struck by a vehicle. This urgent scenario required immediate medical attention, and Collins was promptly transported to Eskanazi Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Further investigation by homicide detectives, with the aid of evidence and witness testimonies, enabled them to name Davis as a potential suspect. Details from WISHTV outline that Davis faced official charges of felony murder and robbery in Marion Superior Court 29. His initial court hearing was scheduled with Judge Charles F. Miller presiding.
Meanwhile, additional cases commanded the IMPD's attention during this 72-hour window. Joshua Bland was captured for his alleged role in the murder of Brian McCoy, reported on May 8, as per information provided by WTHR. McCoy, the victim of a stabbing, had his vehicle stolen, and Bland became a prime suspect once investigators recovered the stolen car. Clarence White was the third suspect apprehended by the IMPD, allegedly connected to a shooting incident on North Pennsylvania Street that resulted in the death of Kia Robinson and left another individual severely injured.
