Over a 48-hour span, the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force (ICGTF) detectives managed to arrest 19-year-old Ajon Hall twice, following an initial encounter for alleged threats and gun possession, and then again after he reportedly made death threats post-release. According to an IMPD News Facebook post, the saga began last Sunday when the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was alerted to an armed individual displaying firearms in a downtown crowd.
Officers rapidly located an individual matching the suspect's description and set off to apprehend him. The suspect, later confirmed to be Hall, attempted to evade the police, leading them on a chase during which he threw a backpack into a chasm between buildings. At the initial encounter, officers could only arrest Hall for resisting law enforcement, lacking the evidence to pin further charges without the backpack's contents.
On the following day, in a painstaking retrieval, the Indianapolis Fire Department's rope team assisted officers in recovering the discarded backpack. Inside, they discovered a handgun with a conversion device to a machine gun and a high-capacity magazine. This discovery came as Hall had been released from custody, but as detectives worked to add charges, they learned that Hall allegedly began issuing death threats.
Taking these new allegations seriously, ICGTF detectives were quick to track down Hall once again. They successfully located and apprehended him during a traffic stop where another firearm was found in Hall's possession. He was arrested on charges including Possession of a Machine Gun, Intimidation, and Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun by a Prohibited Person.
The Marion County Prosecutor's Office is now tasked with making final charging decisions. It is important to note that an arrest is an accusation, and the suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The case, documented under IP250053959, awaits its outcome as legal processes unfold.
