Las Cruces residents have a day of cleanliness and community spirit to look forward to as the Las Cruces Police Department rolls out a series of events along El Paseo Road on Tuesday, June 24. The day will kick off with a Community Cleanup effort from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. as part of a joint initiative with Keep Las Cruces Beautiful. Volunteers will convene in the parking lot of Real Life Church at 1040 El Paseo Rd, equipped with trash bags, gloves, and the resolve to tidy their streets.

According to the City of Las Cruces, large roll-off trash receptacles will facilitate the disposal work, and participating businesses and local denizens are tasked with sifting through the accumulations of urban life, ridding the El Paseo business district of unwanted refuse, and erasing the scars of graffiti.

Come evening, the community's attention will shift from cleanup to camaraderie as El Paseo Road fills with the nostalgia of classic car cruising. From 5-8 p.m., the area will morph into a hub for auto aficionados who yearn for a slice of the past, reminiscent of cruising traditions from the 1970s and 1980s. LCPD is extending an invitation to car enthusiasts to not only cruise down the iconic corridor between Boutz Road and Main Street but also to display their cherished rides near the department's Mobile Operations Command unit, which will be stationed at Real Life Church.

Amidst the gleam of polished chrome and the throbbing of engines, LCPD officers and Community Engagement advocates will be present to interact with residents. In the relaxed ambiance near the MOC, complete with local music and food vendors, officers will engage in dialogues around concerns of crime and safety, fostering an environment of openness and community trust.
