However, the Lewis family has cast doubt on the GBI's conclusion that the brothers took their own lives, prompting calls for a renewed investigation into the circumstances of their deaths. The news conference set at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville, is being organized by the Lewis family, who aim to address unanswered questions and clarify details surrounding the tragic occurrence. In a statement obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta, the family expressed their disagreement with the current findings and their determination to seek further answers.
According to the GBI, the bodies of Qaadir Malik Lewis and Naazir Rahim Lewis were located on March 8, after a call to the Towns County 911 Center led to the discovery of the twins at the summit of Bell Mountain. WRDW News provided details stating both young men sustained gunshot wounds. Preceding the incident, they reported, Naazir had purchased a firearm, and GBI findings also pointed to internet searches by the brothers about how to load a gun, and suicide rates in 2024.
The community and law enforcement have extended their condolences, with the Towns County Sheriff’s Office sharing a Facebook post offering, "Our heartfelt prayers are with the Lewis family at this time," as detailed by WRDW. Controversially, the investigation was anticipated to close in the following weeks—a move that has clearly not sat well with the bereaved family.
