The small town of Danville was hit with a major internet outage. Essential services such as in-person credit card transactions at Town Hall have been suspended in the wake of this disruption. The outage is not only making waves across residential domains but is also affecting several town departments including their communication infrastructures, as confirmed by the Danville Metropolitan Police Department via a social media update.
The local authorities have clarified, however, that emergency services like 911 will continue to operate unaffected by the unfortunate interruption. The Danville Metropolitan Police Department statement urged citizens to "be patient if you’re trying to reach any Town departments." This ongoing tech snag is pushing the town's system maintenance crews to quickly restore normalcy, as the local government grapples to compensate for this digital paralysis.
Meanwhile, for non-emergency scenarios requiring law enforcement, the residents have been directed to utilize the services of the Hendricks County Communications Center by calling (317) 839-8700. This provision is to ensure that mundane but necessary interactions with the police can still go ahead, even as the town waits for the return of full internet service.
The Danville Metropolitan Police Department has promised to keep the public informed and to share updates as they come.
