The Marion County Sheriff's Office has launched a manhunt for James E. Easter, a 47-year-old Black male required to register as a Sex or Violent Offender, due to his classification as a Sexually Violent Predator following a 2012 conviction for Child Molesting, according to a social media post by the department. Failing to meet the compliance criteria under cause number 49D36-2411-F6-032839, Easter is now the subject of an active warrant; he stands 5'7" tall, weighs approximately 240 pounds, and is identified by his black hair and brown eyes with the date of birth of September 7, 1977.
Authorities underscored the importance of these registration requirements which are determined by state law, every week the MCSO features a non-compliant sex offender, and public queries often arise concerning why such individuals are not already registered, these individuals were registered but have breached the terms of their registration which includes articulating shifts in their living situation, employment, or even their vehicles, when these updates are not reported, legal ramifications follow, leading to the issuance of a warrant and the distinction of being non-compliant. Information concerning Easter's location can be significantly valuable to law enforcement, and the public is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS (8477) or the MCSO Safe Surrender line at 317-327-SAFE (7233) should Easter choose to turn himself in; tips can be provided anonymously.
In their communication, the Marion County Sheriff's Office reiterated their strict stance on this issue, asserting a "zero-tolerance policy for sex offenders," a clear reflection of the urgency and severity with which they are approaching the matter of sex offender registration and compliance within their jurisdiction. The relentless pursuit of those failing to adhere to these guidelines signifies their commitment to enforcing the law and maintaining public safety.
