Miami Beach is set to drastically reduce parking rates to a flat $1 per hour in July and August. This price cut covers municipal lots, garages, and on-street parking, with the deal being made available solely through the ParkMobile app. As per the City of Miami Beach, users can benefit from up to three hours at this discounted rate per parking session, with a total limit of 45 hours across the promotional period.
“Summer is here, and we welcome everyone to enjoy Miami Beach with our lowest parking rates ever,” Commissioner Alex Fernandez expressed in a statement, indicating this to be an optimal time to partake in local events like Miami Spa Month and Miami Spice. According to the WSVN 7News report, motorists will need to simply open the ParkMobile app, input the relevant zone number, and apply the conveniently provided promo code that seems to pop up in a banner to partake in the discount. The code remains valid throughout the zones that share the same hourly rate, eliminating the need for repeated entries.
This strategic cut in parking fees arrives as the city aims to attract more foot traffic and activity around commercial zones, essentially to support local merchants and bolster the economic health of the community. In a statement obtained by the City of Miami Beach, Mayor Steven Meiner explained that “Reducing parking costs is about boosting our local economy during the slower summer months,” emphasizing that it is intended to help small businesses to stay robust and expand.
Residents and tourists alike are encouraged to take advantage of this reduced parking window to not just enjoy, but actively invigorate the local business landscape that thrives upon their patronage.
