The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office is ramping up enforcement with the return of its School Zone Speeding Program starting Friday, June 20. While summer is in full swing, school zones remain active in areas with ongoing classes, and deputies will be closely monitoring these zones through July 25, as per the county's announcement.
Drivers are urged to slow down and follow posted speed limits—especially during busy morning commutes or trips to the beach. Enforcement will take place daily, beginning 30 minutes before school starts and continuing until 30 minutes after dismissal, as part of the department’s continued commitment to student safety.
The official news release from Miami-Dade warns that drivers going more than 10 MPH over the school zone speed limit will receive a $100 Notice of Violation. It's a costly reminder to follow a basic traffic rule and help keep students safe.
