A man was killed and another critically injured in Miami Gardens after a shooting led to a car crash early morning yesterday. According to Miami Gardens Police, the incident occurred before 12:45 a.m. in the 1400 block of Northwest 210th Street. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Demonte Lumpkin, was shot in the upper body before crashing through a security gate and into a townhouse, as Local 10 reports.

Lumpkin was airlifted to a nearby trauma center by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue but later died from his injuries. His mother, Shena Moorer, spoke with Local 10, expressing her grief and questioning the motive behind the shooting.

Police said a passenger, who had also been shot multiple times, was later found at a separate medical facility and remains in critical condition. Further details have not been released as the investigation is ongoing.

Surveillance video obtained by NBC Miami shows the SUV crashing into the Majorca Isles community before striking the townhouse. Moorer told that her son had returned home from a party before leaving again later that night.

Miami Gardens Police and Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers are asking anyone with information to come forward. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
