A shooting early Friday in the Liberty City neighborhood of Miami has left one man dead. According to Local 10 News, the incident occurred inside an apartment located at 820 NW 70th St. The 33-year-old victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, was found suffering from gunshot wounds around 1:38 a.m.
Officer Michael Vega, spokesperson for the Miami Police Department, confirmed that upon their arrival, officers discovered the victim within the fourth unit of the apartment complex. Despite the efforts of Miami Fire Rescue, who transported the man to Jackson Memorial Hospital, he was later pronounced dead. The Miami Herald also reports that two individuals have been detained for questioning in relation to the shooting, though police have not yet released a motive behind the incident.
As officers secured the area waiting for a warrant to conduct a thorough search of the apartment, Vega noted to Local 10 News, "The scene remained active Friday morning as investigators waited." The Miami Police Department is currently processing evidence and conducting interviews to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the fatal event.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities continue to hold onto two individuals who might offer clarity in the shadow of this early morning darkness.
