A serious incident unfolded in Hermitage when a motorcycle collided with a Metro Nashville Police Department SUV, landing the rider in critical condition. This accident occurred on Lebanon Pike near Tyler Drive shortly after midnight, on Saturday. Evan Davis, a 22-year-old from Mt. Juliet, was rushed to Skyline Medical Center due to the injuries sustained in the crash, as reported by FOX17.
The Metro Nashville Police Department revealed, through a statement obtained by WSMV, that the officer in the SUV, identified as Conner Roell, had activated his emergency equipment and was responding to a call about a vehicle allegedly attempting to hit pedestrians in a Walmart parking lot. The incident took a turn, while responding to a call, the motorcycle that Davis was operating crashed into the responding vehicle as Officer Roell initiated a U-turn, targeting a suspect vehicle.
The sequence of events led to the collision, with Roell observing what he presumed to be the vehicle in question and making a maneuver to pursue it, explained by the Metro Nashville Police Department and echoed in WKRN's coverage. Davis, who was traveling behind the MNPD SUV at the time, was unable to avoid the vehicle as it turned and ended up striking the driver's side of the patrol car. The Metro Nashville Police Department has not provided further comments about the crash or the ongoing investigation.
