A baby deer found itself in a perilous situation this week when it fell into a storm drain in Murfreesboro. Fortunately, the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) was quick to respond. According to WSMV, the incident unfolded after cries were heard from a hotel parking lot adjacent to Stones River National Battlefield. Responders were able to locate and subsequently rescue the trapped fawn.

MFRD crews from Ladder 4 and Rescue 4 were dispatched to the scene. The operation required specialized gear to safely extract the baby deer. As reported by WKRN, the fawn was found to only have suffered minor scrapes from the ordeal. The young animal was quickly released back into the woods, with hopes that it would reunite with its mother, who was believed to possibly still be in the area.

The MFRD took this opportunity to remind the public of their readiness to assist in emergencies, regardless of the nature of the victim. "We’re always ready to help—no matter who’s in need," Captain Matt Welcome stated, as per a report by WKRN. The department echoed this sentiment in social media posts, reinforcing their community-focused ethos.
