A multi-vehicle collision on I-440 East this past Saturday night has left one motorcyclist in critical condition and several others injured, according to Nashville police. The incident, involving four motorcycles and an Acura sedan, occurred at approximately 10:10 p.m., resulting in a chain-reaction crash with severe consequences.
Police have identified the critically injured motorcyclist as Donald Tucker II, 24, of Nashville. Tucker was reportedly riding a BMW motorcycle when he collided with the rear of an Acura sedan. The impact caused the Acura to lose control, swerving into a Kawasaki motorcycle ridden by a 54-year-old man from the same city, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to Nashville Police Department reports.
The chaos on the interstate didn't end there, with the Acura spinning out and hitting the left-hand retaining wall, while Tucker’s motorcycle slid to the highway's left shoulder. In the turmoil, another Honda motorcycle and a second BMW were also drawn into the fray. Both motorcycles eventually caught fire, further complicating the scene for first responders.
All injured parties were quickly transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where Tucker remains in critical condition. The operators of the other motorcycles involved were assessed for non-life-threatening injuries.
